Bosnia and Herzegovina: New Training for Managers in Adult Education from Una-Sana Canton and Sarajevo Canton

In cooperation with the responsible ministries of education in Una-Sana and Sarajevo Canton, DVV International - Country Office Bosnia and Herzegovina has started the implementation of two parallel training programmes in Bihać and Sarajevo for, in total, 40 managers of adult education providers.

“Educational Management and Leadership: Towards a Competent Manager“ is the title of a new training of DVV International – Country Office Bosnia and Herzegovina for managers in adult education.

A successful manager can only be a competent manager. Research have shown that competency is a variable characteristic that should be continuously developed, even if gained through initial education.

Therefore, this training aims to develop competencies necessary for those aspects of managing an educational organisation in which our research identified a competency deficit.

Three key aspects are to be strengthened within three training modules:

  1. Management of educational organisation/institution's development
  2. Management of human potentials in organisation
  3. Management of education process and achievements.

In cooperation with the responsible ministries of education in Una-Sana and Sarajevo Canton, DVV International - Country Office Bosnia and Herzegovina has started the implementation of two parallel training programmes in Bihać and Sarajevo for, in total, 40 managers of adult education providers.

The first module, focused on developing educational organisation/institution, was held in Sarajevo (Sarajevo Canton), on 17-18 September, and Bihać (Una-Sana Canton) on 21-22 September. Trainers at the training are experts for management in education from the Department for Andragogy of the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Belgrade: Prof. Šefika Alibabić, PhD, and Prof. Jovan Miljković, PhD.

Topics covered by the first training module are positioning of managers of educational institution in the context of competency and management; determinants of the development of an educational organisation; environment of an educational organisation; strategic planning in the function of the organisation's development, competency of managers for development of an educational organisation; managerial skills towards the development of an organisation; leadership skills towards the development of an organisation; managing changes in education – crisis management.
