The Summer Academy for 30 participants from different ethnic communities living in Kosovo was held in cooperation with the Kosovo Education Center (KEC), from May 22 to 25, 2018, at the "Solid" Hotel in Suhareka. The participation notice for this summer academy was issued through an open call posted at Youth Centers, Civil Society Organizations and Social Networks (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.). Following the receipt of applications, a commission composed of Civil Society Organizations working with youth and Youth Centers, as well as KEC and DVV International staff, selected the 30 young people who participated in this Academy. All activists from NGOs and Youth Centers and teachers who work with young people had the right to participate. Apart from promoting the work of their organizations, all the participants in this Academy had the opportunity to attend the KEC training module, which is a combination of the Multicultural Education Program, Human Rights and Democratic Citizenship Program by the Council of Europe, and the Education for Social Justice Program by the International Step by Step Association. To ensure further dissemination of the insights gained by this Academy, all participants have received specific tasks to accomplish at their workplace or in the Youth Centers where they conduct their daily activities. The direct beneficiaries of this Summer Academy were 30 activists of non-governmental organizations from different ethnic communities in Kosovo and teachers working with young people. The indirect beneficiaries were Youth Centers and other civil society organizations in Kosovo which have established a network of joint action to further advance the integration and cooperation of young people from different ethnic communities in Kosovo.
