The target group of the workshop titled "Adult Education and Lifelong Learning – Development of Individuals, Economy, and Society" consisted of representatives from the Georgian Ministry of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia, National Center for Educational Quality Enhancement, State Employment Support Agency, GAEN, Tserovani IDP Settlement Youth House. Course Contents and Learning Objectives
The workshop titled "Adult Education and Lifelong Learning – Development of Individuals, Economy, and Society" was held in Tbilisi on June 24-25, 2024, facilitated by international expert Prof. Katarina Popovic, President of the International Council for Adult Education. Representatives from the Georgian Ministry of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia, National Center for Educational Quality Enhancement, State Employment Support Agency and Georgian Adult Education Network took part in the workshop. The primary objectives were to introduce participants to adult education's roles, functions, and various fields, tp explore adult education as a practical field and research discipline, emphasizing andragogy and a holistic educational approach; to analyze the current landscape of adult education in Georgia, identify strengths, weaknesses, and key challenges such as accessibility, public perception, funding, and policy support; to envision future improvements and strategic directions for adult education in Georgia.
The workshop fostered critical dialogue and awareness among staff of the major educational institutions and the relevant ministries. Participants gained a deeper understanding of adult education's essential roles and potential impacts on individuals, the economy and society. The interactive and participatory nature of the workshop effectively highlighted key issues and opportunities, laying a foundation for future policy and program enhancements in Georgia’s adult education sector.
