In April, 2024, three face-to-face events, so called "History Labs", were held for all the teachers and students involved in the "History Competitions 4.0: A toolkit for critical history teaching” project. The event for the participants of Shirak region took place on April 13 in Gyumri, in which 74 teachers and students took part. 94 teachers and students from Tavush and Lori regions attended the event held at the Dilijan Central School on April 20. The third event was held in Yerevan for the teachers and students from Syunik, Kotayk, Armavir regions and Yerevan on April 27 for a total of 130 participants.
At the beginning of the year, 38 public school teachers of Armenian History and World History formed 42 student teams, chose a research topic for their teams within the framework of the national topic ("Propaganda as a tool of Soviet ideology in the public space, everyday life, culture and education of Armenia"), made a research plan and started implementation of research projects.
"History Labs" were intermediate events, during which all teams summarized the work done since the beginning of the project, had the opportunity to get to know each other's works through posters, and also gained additional knowledge of Soviet propaganda playing the “Puzzle” game and listening to a special lecture on "Propaganda in Soviet cartoons". The teams also received feedback from experts on how to present the results of their research projects in the best way.
The student teams still have one month to complete their research projects and submit the results to the "History Competitions" (the deadline for submission of entries is May 31). The teams recognized as winners by the jury will be awarded.
The project is implemented by DVV International in cooperation with the Körber Foundation and "Hazarashen Armenian Center for Ethnological Studies" NGO and Participatory School NGO, with financial support from the German Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
