On June 17, 2022, H.E. German Ambassador to Georgia, Mr. Hubert Knirsch, and Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Mr. Mikheil Chkhenkeli, visited Bolnisi Adult Education Center (AEC) established and currently supported by DVV International.
The guests had the opportunity to meet and talk with students, both adults, and youth, in person, learn more about the situation in the center, listen to students' experiences, and find out success stories of people who were employed/self-employed after completion of courses provided by the center. The Ambassador and the Minister visited several workshops and classes in welding, wood carving, English language, handcrafted souvenirs, felting, sewing, IT, culinary, and makeup.
A tour of the Bolnisi Adult Education Center was followed by a presentation about the Bolnisi Adult Education Center presented by the center director, Ms. Irma Zurabashvili. Bolnisi Adult Education Center is the 13th AECs established by the DVV International Georgia Country office. The center has been functioning for only one year but already has many beneficiaries. From May 2021 to May 2022, Adult Learning Pack, vocational, personal development, civic, cultural, and financial education was provided to 2257 beneficiaries. The center's director thanked the German government, the German Embassy in Georgia, and DVV International Georgia Country office for their commitment and support. Among the guests were also directors of Jvari and Koda Adult Education centers, and they shared their experiences, success stories, and challenges with the guests.
Later a certificate awarding ceremony was held. The H.E. German Ambassador to Georgia, Hubert Knirsch, and Minister of the Education and Science of Georgia, Mr. Mikheil Chkhenkeli, awarded the several courses graduates and wished them success in their future endeavors.
In his speech, Minister of the Education and Science of Georgia Mikheil Chkhenkeli talked about the German contribution to developing the Georgian Adult Education system and expressed his gratitude to the German Ambassador to Georgia. H.E. German Ambassador to Georgia Hubert Knirsch appreciated Georgia's Adult/Community Education centers for their active and essential work and expressed his readiness to continue supporting Adult Education in Georgia. The Ambassador highlighted that the project on the Adult/Community Education Centers in Georgia, implemented by the DVV International Georgia Country office, remains his favorite German project.
