On 26 August 2026, representatives of Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH – Fit for Jobs II in Kosovo, together with staff from DVV International in Kosovo, visited the Youth and Adult Learning and Education Center (YALEC) in Prizren, managed by the NGO Think Young (THY).
As part of the visit, Mr. Mario Eckardt, Project Manager at GIZ Fit for Jobs II in Kosovo, Ms. Alberta Alihajdari, Advisor for Vocational Training and Labour Market, and Ms. Edona Nahi, Program Component Manager, learned more about the YALEC Prizren model and its activities.
During the visit, Ms. Endrita Mehmeti, Manager at NGO THY – YALEC Prizren, presented the work, mission, and programmes of the Center, with a focus on empowering young people and adults through education, training, and intercultural activities. She also highlighted how activities, training sessions, and mentoring are organized, as well as the Center’s work with the community.
Mr. Ramadan Alija, Head of the DVV International Office in Kosovo, emphasized that the YALEC centers in Prizren, Peja, and Vushtrri were established based on the German Volkshochschule (VHS) model, in cooperation with local partners, including municipalities and partner organizations. Their establishment was based on research conducted on the needs of communities in the field of Adult Learning and Education, with the aim of responding to local needs and providing opportunities for personal and professional development.
The visit provided a valuable opportunity to exchange experiences and discuss future opportunities for cooperation between DVV International, GIZ, and the YALEC centers.
