As part of a joint effort to promote adult education in Kosovo, DVV International, the Municipality of Peja, and the Non-Governmental Organization Council for Local Youth Action - Peja (KVRL) signed a Memorandum of Cooperation on May 7, 2024. This document represents a joint commitment to opening a new center for Adult Education (ALE) in the municipality of Peja, based on the model of German folk schools (VHS).
In order to implement this important initiative, a grant agreement was signed on September 13, 2024, between DVV International and the Non-Governmental Organization Council for Local Youth Action - Peja (KVRL). One of the main aspects of this agreement is DVV International's support for renovating the Youth Center facility in Peja, specifically the KVRL Peja space, where the Youth and Adult Learning Education Center in Peja will be established.
The renovation process began in September 2024 and is expected to be completed by the end of October. Meanwhile, the official opening of the Center for Youth and Adult Education in Peja, based on the model of German popular schools (VHS), will take place on November 21, 2024.
The Center for Youth and Adult Education in Peja will be the second of its kind in Kosovo, following the opening of the center in Prizren in April of this year.
This center will closely follow the model of German folk schools to provide non-formal education for adults, aiming to offer programs and courses that meet the diverse needs of adult groups, not only from the Peja region and beyond.
