Curriculum institutionALE, a reference framework for institutional strengthening of Adult Learning and Education (ALE) centers was developed by DVV International in 2021. It offers guidelines, indicators and means of verification for organizational development and capacity management.

In 2023 DVV International Georgia country office started implementation of Curriculum institutionALE. On February 21-22 the first introductory workshop for 14 directors of Georgian ALE centers and staff of the Georgian Adult Education Network was conducted by the invited expert, chairwoman of the Board of the Latvian Adult Education Association, Ms. Iluta Krumina.

The purpose of the workshop was to motivate participants to learn more and to develop in order to ensure quality and effectiveness of the services provided by ALE centers. The workshop aimed at changing mindsets, shifting perspectives and enhancing other qualities like creativity, collaboration, and resilience in an effort to get motivated.   These qualities are necessary to use the Curriculum institutionALE for enhanced sustainability of ALE centers.

 The following topics were in the focus during the workshop:

  • Importance of CI for quality assurance;

  • Psychological limitations and barriers to changes and innovations;

  • Assessment of opportunities and gaps;

  • Strategic planning;

  • Capacity development planning;

  • Capacity building activities;

  • Monitoring and evaluation;

  • Peculiarities of peer assessment and its psychological aspects.

Workshop sessions represented combination of theoretical information, simulations, and practical examples from experiences by Baltic and Georgian ALE institutions.

On the following stage of implementation of   Curriculum institutionALE the involved ALE centers will use peer review method to evaluate their everyday practices and to involve change management strategies. As members of ALE network the centers will learn from each other, assist each other in filling gaps and making necessary improvements for further development.
