DVV International Kosovo, as a development partner focusing on adult education and training, is providing ongoing support to its local partners in Kosovo, in coordination with the Employment Agency of the Republic of Kosovo (EARK), which manages 8 Vocational Training Centers, and this year, it continued to support 3 Vocational Training centers with different vocational training in different regions of Kosovo such as; Tailoring (VTC-Gjilan), Hairdressing / makeup (VTC-Gjakova), and Bakery (VTC-Prizren).
Since the beginning of the year, and until now, about 100 unemployed people have received training in these vocations, all from the waiting lists for attending courses, and upon completion and certification of these trainees, there are many other attendees on the waiting list for training.
These courses will last until the end of 2021, and given the high number of unemployed people in Kosovo, and especially women who have a low level of education, holding of tailoring, hairdressing and bakery vocational courses for the target groups (especially women with a low level of education) has helped a lot, and will continue to help increase their opportunities to compete in the labor market.
One of the main goals of attending and successfully completing these trainings is to gain the necessary knowledge, skills and training necessary for the vocations of tailor, hairdresser or bakery, in order to expand their opportunities for employment with a monthly salary, or their self-employment by starting up small family-run businesses.
