Lifelong Learning Week (LLL Week) Organized by the ALE NK Network (Adult Learning and Education Network in Kosovo)

From November 12 to 15, 2024, DVV International, in cooperation with the ALE NK network (Adult Learning and Education Network in Kosovo), organized the Lifelong Learning Week, an important event for promoting lifelong learning in Kosovo.

This initiative aimed to raise awareness among institutions and citizens of the Republic of Kosovo about the vital importance of continuous education as a key tool for addressing the complex challenges of modern societies. Lifelong learning creates opportunities for personal and professional development, helping to build a society equipped with skills and competencies that align with the demands and dynamics of the 21st century.

 

From November 12 to 15, 2024, DVV International, in cooperation with the ALE NK network (Adult Learning and Education Network in Kosovo), organized the Lifelong Learning Week, an important event for promoting lifelong learning in Kosovo.

This initiative aimed to raise awareness among institutions and citizens of the Republic of Kosovo about the vital importance of continuous education as a key tool for addressing the complex challenges of modern societies.

The opening ceremony of the Lifelong Learning Week was held on November 12, 2024, at the Faculty of Education in Prishtina, with the primary focus being the promotion of the licensing and recognition of the international curriculum “Curriculum globALE” by the Ministry of Education, Science, Technology, and Innovation (MESTI). This curriculum aims to improve the quality of adult education through international standards for the training of educators.

This significant event was attended by the Minister of Education, Science, Technology, and Innovation, Ms. Arbërie Nagavci, along with other representatives from educational institutions and organizations active in the field of adult education.

In her speech, Minister Nagavci highlighted the actions undertaken by the Ministry of Education to improve adult education and lifelong learning in the country, emphasizing the importance of licensing the Curriculum globALE by MASHTI. She praised the role of this curriculum in advancing education and stressed the significance of the Lifelong Learning Week in raising awareness and promoting inclusive education in Kosovo.

Mr. Ramadan Alija, Director of DVV International in Kosovo, expressed gratitude to MASHTI for its continuous support and highlighted the importance of the partnership with the Faculty of Education for promoting Curriculum globALE. He also emphasized that the Lifelong Learning Week aims to advocate and lobby with decision-makers and potential supporters to strengthen adult education in Kosovo.

Ms. Blerta Perolli, Vice Dean at the Faculty of Education, University of Prishtina, highlighted the collaboration with DVV International, underlining the role of Curriculum globALE in advancing adult education. She stated that this effort has significantly contributed to the development of adult education by focusing on preparing educators capable of driving positive societal changes.

During the event, a video prepared by DVV International in Kosovo was presented, showcasing the journey of the international program "Curriculum globALE" in Kosovo.

Concluding the event, Professor Naser Zabeli shared a presentation on andragogical knowledge in Kosovo, emphasizing the importance of accrediting Curriculum globALE and its implementation within the Faculty of Education at the University of Prishtina.

The Lifelong Learning Week represents a joint effort to foster a culture of continuous education, focusing on an inclusive approach and empowering citizens through formal, non-formal, and informal education.

Activities Within the Lifelong Learning Week

The Lifelong Learning Week in Kosovo continued with promotional activities across several municipalities, including Prishtina, Prizren, Peja, Gjilan, Mitrovica, Ferizaj, Vushtrri, and Viti. These activities aimed to highlight the educational opportunities offered by member institutions of the Non-Formal Network for Adult Education in Kosovo (ALE NK).

Some activities took place within the spaces of ALE NK member organizations, while others were organized in municipal squares, bringing educational opportunities closer to citizens. Through the distribution of informational materials and meetings with citizens, inclusive education and career development were promoted.

On November 12, 2024, under the organization of the European College of Kosovo (ECK), promotional activities were held on the theme "Promoting Education for Adults and Professional Education and Training – Its Importance for the Labor Market." 

Meanwhile, in the Municipality of Gjilan, the NGO KEC organized a roundtable discussion and fair, where representatives from local authorities and various organizations gathered to inform citizens about opportunities for learning and professional qualification.

On November 13, the NGO THY and the Competence Center in Prizren participated in a fair in the city square, informing citizens about adult education opportunities. In Peja, the Youth Center and QAP Peja distributed materials on professional skills development and educational opportunities. The activities continued in Ferizaj on November 14, 2024, where VTC Ferizaj and other organizations shared information about career development and professional training.

In Mitrovica, the main square transformed into an information platform for youth and adults, promoting their involvement in new educational opportunities offered by VTC Mitrovica and the Career Center - IAAP "Arkitekt Sinani" Mitrovica.

Furthermore, on November 14, 2024, the activities continued in Ferizaj, where the QAP and the ‘Pjetër Bogdani’ Technical School promoted career development. On the same day, in Vushtrri, the NGO ‘Hareja’ and other organizations informed citizens about professional skills training opportunities. We concluded the week on November 15, 2024, in the municipality of Viti, where the Viti Youth Center and the Professional Training Center from Gjilan presented their programs for citizen education and skills development.

These activities have contributed to raising awareness of the importance of lifelong learning and educational opportunities for both youth and adults across Kosovo.
