Visit to Kosovo from Regional office and DVV International office in Bonn

Between February 20-24, Mrs. Bettina Brand - Regional Referent for the Caucasus and Southeast Europe, and Mr. Thomas Lichtenberg - Regional Director, Caucasus and Southeast Europe, were on a visit in Kosovo. During their days in Kosovo, together with the director of DVV International office in Kosovo Mrs.Ramadan Alija, they held meetings with representatives of central and municipal institutions as well as various partners of the DVV International Kosovo Country Office.

On February 20, a meeting was held with Mrs. Fikrije Zymberi - Director of the Agency for Vocational Education and Training and Adult Education in Kosovo, who stressed, in particular, the important role AVETAE’s cooperation with DVV International plays in enhancing inclusiveness in Adult Education programs, especially for marginalized groups.

During their days in Kosovo, together with the director of DVV International office in Kosovo Mrs.Ramadan Alija they held meetings with representatives of central and municipal institutions as well as various partners of the DVV International Kosovo Country Office.

The visit started at the office of Dvv International Kosova, in a meeting with the staff where the 2023 annual plan and other things were discussed.

On February 20, a meeting was held with Mrs. Fikrije Zymberi - Director of the Agency for Vocational Education and Training and Adult Education in Kosovo, who stressed, in particular, the important role AVETAE’s cooperation with DVV International plays in enhancing inclusiveness in Adult Education programs, especially for marginalized groups.

The following meeting, whose overarching aim was to discuss the Curriculum globALE, was held with Mr. Blerim Saqipi - Dean of the Faculty of Education, and Prof. Dr. Naser Zabeli. The “Curriculum globALE” had already been launched within the Faculty of Education on June 29, 2022.

The following day, February 21, a meeting was held with Mrs. Majlinda Rizvanolli - First Advisor to the Minister of Education. of Science, Technology and Innovation - Ms. Arberie Nagavci.

Ms. Rizvanolli was also a participant in the 15th Adult Education Conference in Leipzig, Germany, together with Minister Nagavci and DVV International in Kosovo Director Mr. Ramadan Alija.

Then, the visit continued with a meeting with Mrs. Vera Baumann, Head of Development Cooperation at the German Embassy in Kosovo. During this rather intense and interesting conversation, excellent ideas and opinions were exchanged, and the embassy representative obtained insights into the work of DVV International.

The agenda continued with a friendly meeting with Mr. Tobias Seiberlich and few other GIZ officers in Kosovo, in which their projects and those of DVV International in Kosovo were discussed.

On the same date, February 21, Mr. Petrit Tahiri - Director of the Kosovo Education Center (KEC) welcomed the DVV International representatives in their offices. KEC is now the only member organization from Kosovo in the EAEA, with whom they are expected to conduct their activity during the following months.

The agenda continued with a visit to the National Qualifications Authority. Mr. Milot Hasangjekaj – Qualifications Expert, praised NQA’s cooperation with DVV International.

After a successful and informative day with numerous meetings and discussions, Mrs. Bettina Brand and Mr. Thomas Lichtenberg, together with the staff of DVV International in Kosovo, had dinner with representatives of the new ALE Network in Kosovo. This Network was founded late last year with the aim of enabling coordination, cooperation and data management at the national level.

On February 22, the day began with a meeting with Mrs. Luljeta Veselaj Gutaj - Municipal Education Director in Prizren, who was also a participant in the study visit to get a closer look at how these folk high schools function in Germany. Other representatives of municipal institutions were also present at the meeting. The following meeting was held with the Mayor of the Municipality of Prizren, Mr. Shaqir Totaj.

On February 23, another meeting was held with representatives of the Municipality of Peja. DVV International representatives were received by Mr. Naser Gega - Municipal Education Director in Peja and then also by the Mayor of the Municipality of Peja, Mr. Gazmend Muhaxheri.

The European College of Kosovo (ECK) hosted the last meeting of this one-week visit, rich in meetings and discussions. The ECK is also a member of the recently established ALE Network in Kosovo, and deeper cooperation with them is expected in the future.
