Renovation of the building for the opening of the Adult Education Center (ALE) in Prizren, based on the model of German folk schools (vhs)

Based on the Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) signed on 02.08.2023 by DVV International and the NGO THY, the parties have agreed to establish a new Adult Education Center (ALE) in the municipality of Prizren, based on the model of German folk schools (vhs). This cooperation memorandum was concretized with the signing of the grant contract, by both parties on 22.12.2023.

This agreement, among others, also includes the support of DVV International for the renovation of the THY NGO facility. The renovation process commenced in January and is expected to be completed by the end of February 2024. The first Adult Education Center (ALE) in Kosovo, following the VHS model from Germany, is set to open in early March 2024.

This ALE center in Prizren will be the first of its kind in Kosovo, aiming to offer non-formal and formal modular programs/courses. These programs will be accessible to various groups of adults from the Prizren region and beyond.

Particularly, the project aims to include marginalized and excluded groups from the regular education process, specifically from the Prizren region.

It is expected that by the end of 2024, the second planned Adult Education Center (ALE) will also be opened for the municipality of Peja.
