In cooperation with German folk schools of Pforzheim-Enzkreis and Bingen am Rhein, during the period between 6-10 December 2022, the DVV International Office in Kosovo organized a study visit to Germany for the representatives from the municipalities of Prizren and Peja, the Kosovo Ministry of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation (MESTI) and the Agency for Vocational Education and Training and Adult Education (AVETAE).
The aim of the study visit, which took place in two places, Pforzheim and Bingen am Rhein, was to acquaint the 15 participants with the Adult Learning and Education (ALE) system in Germany i.e. to provide the local government authorities with more information and examples of good practices from the German Folkschools. This will help in the process of establishing and opening two ALE centres in Kosovo, namely in Peja and Prizren, based on the German model.
In the course of these days, participants visited and held meetings at the Pforzheim Music School, Pforzheim-Enzkreis Folk School, Bingen am Rhein Folk School and municipality of Bingen am Rhein. In the latter, they were welcomed by Mayor Thomas Feser himself.
During the study visit, the participants discussed directly with the representatives of the folk schools in Germany about their quality management system, organization of educational spaces, networking with other educational centres, learning and teaching system, etc. They also met with some teachers in these schools, with whom they shared their experiences.
The representatives of the two folk schools in Germany expressed their readiness to cooperate with the representatives of municipalities of Peja and Prizren and provide their expertise in establishing the two ALE centres in Kosovo.
Otherwise, DVV International in Kosovo is working closely with the municipalities of Peja and Prizren on establishing and opening the first two pilot ALE centres in Kosovo to expand the scope of informal programs not only with employment and labour market measures but also generic skills, such as financial and digital education, political and civil education, personal development etc.
The ALE centres to be established in Peja and Prizren, will build on experiences of folk high schools in Germany.
