The integration of blind people in public life and their ability for independent life is one of the biggest challenges in the Republic of Kosovo, and the main goal of the Kosovo Blind Association.
As a large number of blind people lose their eyesight at different ages and times, it is imperative that blind people receive training to prepare themselves for an independent life and integration into society.
The Kosovo Blind Association (KBA) with the support of DVV International has managed to train a significant number of blind people in the field of Information Technology, using to the Braille alphabet methodology, but the number of those who need to be trained further is very large.
In 2018, DVV International in Kosovo has supported the Kosovo Blind Association through the implementation of the project for the training of 40 blind people to use PCs through the Braille alphabet. The persons who attended these trainings are from 5 different regions of Kosovo, and the training was conducted through the municipal associations for blind persons located in the municipalities of Gjakova, Gjilan, Mitrovica, Prishtina and Ferizaj.
With this support of DVV International in Kosovo, the number of blind people who by using PCs will have easier access to continuing their education, overall social integration and the labor market in Kosovo, will be significantly increased.
