From September 2 to 5, 2024, representatives from the German Adult Education School and the Bingen Music School (vhs) visited the office and several partner organizations of DVV International in Kosovo. This visit by vhs Bingen is a continuation of the collaboration between DVV International’s partner organizations in Kosovo and vhs Bingen, and it follows last year's visit by a group of Kosovar partners to Bingen, Germany.
During this visit, two presentations were held at the DVV International office in Kosovo; Mr. Ramadan Alija, head of the DVV International office, gave a detailed presentation on the achievements of DVV International in the field of adult education in Kosovo, also emphasizing the importance of cooperation with the German Adult Education School. Meanwhile, Mr. René Nohr, General Director of vhs Bingen, provided a presentation on the history of the school, offering an in-depth overview of the development and achievements of this educational institution.
After the meeting at the office of DVV International, the delegation from VHS Bingen continued its visit to Prizren. On September 3, 2024, representatives of the German school visited the premises of the NGO THY, where the Youth and Adult Learning Education Center in Prizren (YALEC-Prizren) operates. This center was opened on April 2, 2024 in the premises of the NGO THY in Prizren, and has already started offering courses and training for adult education, following the model of German folk schools.
The VHS Bingen delegation, led by Mr. René Nohr (General Director), Ms. Nina Göttelmann (Head of the Music School), Ms. María José Lafuente (Head of the Digitalization Unit), and Mr. Yannik Eberhard (Head of the Examination Unit), was welcomed by the Deputy Mayor of Prizren, Mr. Kujtim Gashi, the Chairwoman of the Municipal Assembly, Ms. Antigona Berisha Bytyqi, and the DKA official, Mr. Nexhat Mackaj. A key moment of this visit was the signing of the twinning agreement between VHS Bingen and NGO THY from Prizren.
This collaboration aims to promote cultural awareness and the exchange of best educational practices, through structured programs and joint activities. Part of this cooperation will also be the development of innovative teaching methodologies and the exchange of educational resources to improve lifelong learning. The organization of exchange visits for trainers, staff, and students will be included, with the goal of sharing experiences and learning from each other’s practices. This exchange is expected to contribute to the improvement of quality and sustainable education.
Continuing their visit on September 4, 2024, the delegation visited the Music School in Prizren "Lorenc Antoni", where Director Vesel Krasniqi presented the school's structure and educational programs. Both parties exchanged their experiences in the field of education.
Additionally, the delegation from VHS Bingen visited the University of “Ukshin Hoti” in Prizren, where they were welcomed by Rector Mr. Mentor Alishani. During this meeting, the possibility of collaboration between these institutions was discussed.
In conclusion, the representatives participated in a discussion on training programs and methods with the trainers from YALEC, which was held at the premises of the NGO THY.
This visit by VHS Bingen to Prizren marks the beginning of an important international partnership, expected to enrich not only the educational offerings of the YALEC Center but also the entire Prizren community. This collaboration is a powerful testimony to the value of intercultural exchange and joint efforts to build a better future through education.
