Advocacy Strategy for ALE in Kosovo, meeting with representatives of member organizations of the ALE NK

On 15.09.2023, by joint invitation, a meeting of the representatives of the ALE network in Kosovo was held at the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology.

The meeting was attended by 8 persons, founders and representatives of the member organizations of the network. The meeting began with the formal acceptance of Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport (MYCS) into the joint network. Through a unanimous vote, MYCS has become a member of the network, with its representative Ms. Filloreta Kuqi.

The main purpose of the meeting was to present and analyze together the draft - document for the Advocacy Strategy for ALE in Kosovo, which was presented at the Regional Academy - organized by the Project - Regional office of DVV International held during the month of June -2023 in Sarajevo.The country director of DVV International office in Kosovo, Mr.Ramadan Alija, presented all points of the document and emphasized that the support for adult learning and education is a common cause which is the goal of all the next steps of the network.

The key points that are referenced for advocacy by the ALE Network and its members are as follows:

• The importance of lifelong learning; which means that learning and adult education contribute to personal growth, career development and social engagement throughout life
• Access and Inclusion: Advocacy for policies and initiatives that ensure access in Adult Learning and Education
• Flexible learning options, the need for flexible learning options, including online courses and part-time programs, to adopt the different needs of adults
• Ensure effective cooperation between the responsible Ministries and various public and non-public sectors in the field of ALE for the institutionalization and creation of an intersectoral role for adult education and lifelong learning in Kosovo.
• Financing and Support; Advocacy to increase funding and support for adult learning and education programs at the local, state, and national levels.
• Awareness campaign; Implementing awareness campaigns to inform adults about available learning opportunities and the benefits of adult learning and education.
• The importance of collecting data and conducting research to better understand the needs and challenges of ALE in Kosovo.
