DVV International in Kosovo, is supporting the Agency for Vocational Education and Training and Adult Education (AVETAE) in developing occupational and adult education program standards for level 5 qualifications, which will be submitted for accreditation to the National Authority of Qualifications in the Republic of Kosovo. AVETAE’s mission is to provide strong support to the development of Vocational Education and Training, and adult education in Kosovo, in line with European standards. In pursuit of its aim, this Agency intends to:
· Achieve VET and AE development in relation to the needs of modern technology, labor market and social development of the country;
· Ensure social partnership at all levels and at all stages of planning, development and implementation of VET programs from the perspective of lifelong learning;
·Develop the European dimension of VET, ensuring transparency of qualifications and approximation of competences with the common European market.
The development of occupational standards for level 5 qualifications for the two professions selected by AVETAE (auto-mechanics and metalworkers) is the result of the previous research jointly conducted this year by DVV International and AVETAE, which has served for the collection of data based on the educational profiles offered at public professional high schools and Centers of Competence, on their opportunities and needs to be able to begin with the implementation of Level 5 Qualifications.
The research served to AVETAE and other relevant stakeholders as a guide for the development of the necessary occupational standards for level 5 qualifications, based on the specifics and needs of the labor market in the Republic of Kosovo.
The two educational profiles selected by AVETAE (auto-mechanics and metalworkers) for which occupational standards for level 5 qualifications will be developed, are considered as those in highest demand in the labor market in Kosovo, and it is possible to start with development of programs and their implementation at vocational secondary schools and centers of competence in Kosovo. Following the development of standards for these professions, the development of curricula for the professions in question will follow, which will be implemented in some Vocational Schools and 4 Competence Centers in Kosovo.
