Workshop “Presentation of Draft Short-term (Modular) Information Technology and Communication (ICT) Program”

On December 8, 2023, DVV International in Kosovo, in cooperation with AVETAE, hosted the “Presentation of Draft Short-term (Modular) Information Technology and Communication (ICT) Program” Workshop. The workshop was attended by 20 participants, representatives from the Agency for Vocational Education and Training and Adult Education (AVETAE) as well as School Principals/Competence Center Directors.

On December 8, 2023, DVV International in Kosovo, in cooperation with AVETAE, hosted the “Presentation of Draft Short-term (Modular) Information Technology and Communication (ICT) Program” Workshop. The workshop was attended by 20 participants, representatives from the Agency for Vocational Education and Training and Adult Education (AVETAE) as well as School Principals/Competence Center Directors.

Mrs. Fikrije Zymberi, acting AVETAE General Director, and Mr. Ramadan Alija, head of DVV International in Kosovo, each made introductory remarks at this workshop.

In her introductory remarks, Ms. Zymberi expressed the importance of integrating and developing short-term ICT courses for adults. According to her, these courses would influence the further development of ALE in Kosovo. Meanwhile, the director of DVV International in Kosovo, Mr. Ramadan Alija, informed the attendees about the activities and results achieved in cooperation with AVETAE in the 2021 to 2023 period.

According to him, DVV International has supported the establishment of the non-formal Adult Learning and Education Network in Kosovo - ALE NK, in which AVETAE is also a member. Further on, Mr. Alija emphasized that during 2021, professional standards have been developed for level 5 of qualifications for the professions of Auto Mechanic, Metalworking, Tailoring, Central Heating and Air Conditioning, and IT and Marketing. While 2022 is characterized by the drafting of the Programs for Electrical Installation, Construction worker/Mason, the Draft Short-term (Modular) ALE ICT Program, presented at the workshop by Mr. Muzafer Ademaj and Mr. Enes Vezaj. After the introductory speech by Mr. Alija, the summary draft ICT program was presented by Mr. Muzafer Ademaj and Mr. Enes Vezaj. During the presentation of the Short-term Modular ICT Program, the two experts, Mr. Ademaj and Mr. Vezaj, specified that the program includes 6 modules, a total of 320 hours, and in the modules are designed to equip trainees with the skills to install input-output devices, other hardware, as well as to perform their configuration, operating system installation and configuration, apps installation and configuration, and other skills.

The presentation included descriptions of the modules, titles and code, purpose, module duration, module credits, and recommended criteria.

After the presentation of this material, a number of recommendations were given on providing clarity regarding the issue of modular certification, i.e., defining and showcasing the manner of certification of these programs, MESTI approval of certificates to ensure effectiveness of short modular courses, in accordance with the Regulation on Adult Learning and Education. Another recommendation was to determine the financial costs for long-term and short-term courses. These requests will be presented to MESTI to enable the continuation of the successful implementation of these programs.
